A brave, and dedicated, band of HoYers slogged through the tests of blade and deception and gained entry into the lair of the dreaded black dragon, Onyxia. It was a long slow fight, but with a sturdy main tank, plenty of good healers, some serious DPS and savvy whelp management, HoY prevailed!

Conando won the [Helmet of Ten Storms] and Bones won the [Netherwind Crown]

This officially opens up all PuG acquired tier 2 helms for guild runs and allows warriors to equip [Quel'Serrar]

With between 17 to 23 players in raid at any given time, we managed to easily handle trash mobs. Feeling good about our ability to coordinate on trash we went for Lucifron. We took a few wipes learning how to pull the mobs and how to handle/minimize Mind Controls, but we got him. Of course the first MC drop for HoY HAD to be pally gear, [Lawbringer Boots]. Savic, was also able to pick up the [Gauntlets of Might]. This kill officially unlocked all gear previously acquired by guildies from Lucifron from PuGs. Additionally this opened up all MC BoEs.

Just as we were deciding whether to hearth and run back to MC or fight our way through respawns, Lortab logged on. Hey, with one hunter to hit tranquil shot, let's give Magmadar a try...

About this time, Iviagus finally logged on. After ribbing him for being late to raids, we came to find out why he missed AQ20 yesterday. This now gives me an excellent excuse to link a Johnny Cash song from youtube:

Heading back to Gehennas, we had more opportunities to pick up [Fiery Core], [Lava Core] and [Core Leather]. This reminds me, we need to run UBRS more so we can get [Finkle's Skinner].

Finally, we get to Gehennas. He drops [Earthfury Gauntlets] and [Wristguards of Stability]. With only one shaman and only one feral druid in the raid at this time, loot distribution was pretty easy.

We made a couple attempts at Garr, but are another tank and/or warlock away from taking him down. All and all, this was an incredible first run. I would have been thrilled with just one boss downing (many raids I was in before TBC came out couldn't even do that). I said we could do possibly get the first thyree bosses down, but that was more trash talking than a serious estimate of our expected progress.

Late night on Tuesday after ZG clear, Only had time to attempt one boss. First try and First down of Kurinnaxx. Congrats to all who attended. We will be back for more Wednesday!
